Mother's Day Pedinedicure*

This weekend, we were treated with a visit from Mimi, Papa, Uncle "Wob," and his doggie, Jack. Since Mother's Day is next weekend, and we won't get to see Mimi that day, the girls and I decided to treat her to a "girls only" morning of pedicures and shopping. Little did we know that it would turn into a full-on mani/pedi pamper-fest for them!

I had heard about a place in Sherwood that has kid-size pedicure chairs, so we gave it a try. Boy were they impressive! Pink, Hello Kitty chairs greeted us when we walked in the door, and the staff was so sweet and kind. They brought the girls treats on silver trays, and juice boxes to enjoy during their treatment. Then they painted the girls' toes and fingers, even adding tiny flowers and details. Amazing! Aubrey was so intrigued, she sat perfectly still the whole time. Her nail tech kept giggling and adding more and more detail to her tiny nails. In fact, I'm still not sure who had more fun!

Mimi and I had a blast soaking our feet and just watching the girls' reactions. Happy Early Mother's Day, Mimi!

Take your child to work day 2011

Camryn was eager to join me again this year for "take your child to work day." Even after last year's ankle incident, she was undeterred. Looking back at the day, it's kind of funny how her experience truly mirrored the ups and downs I go through every day.

Too busy during our long morning to stop long enough to even take any photos. Just so happy to have made it to lunch with friends in the staff room!

Emily makes everyone laugh, just like her daddy does for us daily.

With a few minutes to decompress, everyone's sanity quickly comes into question, and lunchtime antics ensue.

We always leave lunch laughing...

Soon, it's back to some serious work. Everyone is looking a bit tired...

Kindergarten Critter Concert

This week, we got to go to our first of many music performances at Deer Creek. Camryn was beyond thrilled to perform in the Kindergarten "Critter Concert." The kids sang songs and demonstrated games, all related to the animals they have studied this year. We were all surprised when Camryn started the show as the "mama snake" in the very first number!

Special thanks to Mrs. Brown-Lundh (her music teacher), Mrs. Doughty (her classroom teacher), and Kris (our babysitter and friend, who showed up to cheer Camryn on). The girls are so lucky to have so many wonderful, supportive adults in their lives. Hooray for Kindergarten Critters!

Tulip Fest 2011

This weekend, we seized the first (and one, and only!) 70 degree day of the year so far, and headed south to the tulip festival in Woodburn. We enjoyed an egg hunt (where Aubrey learned that in this case, taking your time doesn't exactly pay off), the beautiful tulips, bounce houses and "bungee jumping," some good photo ops, lots of opportunities to stretch our legs, and of course, the sunshine!!
