Christmas morning

SO excited to go downstairs and see if Santa came!!!!!!!

Full stockings...

He came! Santa came!!!
And he brought a Barbie house!!!

Mmmm... Nothing like candy at 6:30 in the morning...

Santa knew Camryn had lost her favorite marble (literally!) so he brought more...

I'm convinced Aubrey would've been perfectly happy with JUST a candy cane...
Trying out her new art materials, while wearing her new boots. :)

After gifts, Aubrey and Daddy both fell back asleep, so Camryn and Mommy took some silly, happy, Christmas morning pictures. Merry Christmas, everyone!!!

The Nutcracker

This year, I decided that Camryn was old enough to appreciate (and sit through) the OBT performance of The Nutcracker. So Thursday afternoon, we dressed up and headed downtown to the ballet.

She ended up being completely enthralled during the first act, then after settling in, and eating a little snack (giant cookie) during intermission, had a bit of the wiggles during the second act. We were lucky enough to have seats very close to the stage, so we were able to see the dancers' faces and costumes quite well. We finished our "big girl" outing with some hot cocoa at Starbucks before we headed home, and overall enjoyed our special new tradition.

Sister love

It is fun to see the girls prepare gifts for one another, but my favorite part this year has been watching Camryn lovingly and painstakingly write out her sister's name on the gift tag. It reminds me of how much she has learned in the past year, and how lucky they are to have each other.

Miss Sickie Pants

This is pretty much how we've spent our Winter break so far. (Note the pile of tissues):

Last week, Aubrey caught the world's worst cold, and officially became the grumpiest two year old on the planet (I keep reminding her that Santa is watching, but that bribe has long ago lost it's effectiveness.)

To be fair, her cold then caused an ear infection, for which she's now on antibiotics, and the poor thing can barely breathe, let alone eat or sleep. All of which adds to the grumpiness factor, and perpetuates the cycle. You see where I'm going with this one...?

Even Aubrey recognizes the change in herself. She's been extra cuddly and clingy, and several times has said, "I so kanky!" (Translation: "I'm so cranky!") Brian and I just nod in agreement, but luckily she has a very patient big sister who is more than willing to share some extra cuddle time and watch some extra movies with her too. We just hope everyone is feeling well enough to enjoy Christmas...

And so it begins...

"Do not cam (come) in here, only Camryn."
Enough said.

The five days of Christmas

On the first day of Christmas, my teachers gave to me...

...A tie and a mustache'd Mar-ty!

On the second day of Christmas, my teachers gave to me...

...Itchy, sparkly garlands, a singing Christmas tie, and a puff-painted, mustache'd Mar-ty!

On the third day of Christmas, my teachers gave to me...

...An ugly sweater t-shirt, itchy scratchy garland, singing Christmas necktie, and once again, a mustache'd Mar-ty.

On the fourth day of Christmas, my teachers gave to me...

...Four distasteful sweaters, an ugly sweater t-shirt, itchy scratchy garlands, Christmas carol necktie, and can't forget that mustache'd Mar-ty.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my teachers gave to me...

...ONE BIG BELLY LAUGH! More hideous sweaters, darn that ugly t-shirt, itchy scratchy garlands, annoying singing necktie, and mustaches on D and Mar-ty!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas, from the wackiest teaching team in town! :)

Deer Creek gingerbread decorating

Friday night, we headed over to Camryn's school to participate in their annual gingerbread house decorating event. The PSO puts in a ton of hours to *pre-assemble* hundreds of graham cracker houses, and dole out hundreds of cups of frosting and candy. Camryn was counting down all week to this social event, that combined two of her favorite things: friends, and candy!!!

While we were there, we got to meet Camryn's reading buddy. She gives up her recess each and every day to come to Camryn's class, and read/do projects with her. We have heard about her on a daily basis since the beginning of the year, and can see why Camryn loves her so much. She is just the sweetest thing.

Thank you, Mason family, for your willingness to host so many kids and allow them to have so much fun, and make such a mess! What a fun morning with you!
