Snow Day 2016!
Surprise! It snowed! Although there was only about an inch on the ground, it still seemed to be plenty to play and sled in. :) Abi too, enjoyed the snow, running circles, barking, and eating lots and lots of the white stuff!
Seattle trip!
For a few years now, Camryn has been working with a speech therapist to work through some tongue thrusting, swallowing, and articulation issues. This meant weekly speech sessions, and 3x daily practice at home, which was NOT always easy or fun (for any of us).
Our hard work has paid off in the long run, as indicated through photos of her teeth and smile, and her ability to better articulate. However, in the midst of it all, we needed something that would truly motivate Camryn to slog through the tedious exercises without excessive complaining. So we made a deal.
If she did her daily exercises without nagging and prodding from us, she could earn $$$ towards a trip to the American Girl store. In addition, she began saving her money. Every extra quarter and birthday gift dollar was put into her "Seattle Savings," and she even asked Santa for AG gift cards for Christmas.
Just before the holidays, she made enough progress to officially "graduate" from her therapy, which meant a trip to Seattle was in order. She of course invited Emma, and we choose the first weekend of the new year to head north.
The girls enjoyed 3+ hours in the AG store, spending the $300(!) Camryn had accumulated, and eating at the AG bistro. We then headed downtown to explore Seattle Center and the Space Needle. Of course they had to check out the pool at the hotel, and on our drive home in the morning, we were surprised by a snow and ice storm. All in all, a fun adventure, celebrating lots and lots of hard work!

New Year's Eve
Due to a hideous head/chest/sinus/ear/everything cold & flu bug, I was down and out for much of the week after Christmas. By New Year's Eve, I was still in no shape to stay up and party, so we had a quiet family game night at home, with cheesy fondue for dinner, and sparkling cider at New York New Year. The girls and I were all in bed by 9:30, and were up and at 'em early on New Year's Day, ready to take on 2016!

Since the pass was so icy and treacherous, Mimi and Papa weren't able to make it over the weekend before Christmas. The girls understood the need to consider safety, but were still really disappointed.
Luckily, Santa had some air miles saved up, and sent the girls one more gift their way on the 26th. :) We told them we were going out to breakfast (to get them out the door early), and then received a special email from Santa indicating a gift would be arriving at the airport by 9 a.m. So we took a quick "detour," and watched their faces turn from confusion to realization in the middle of the busy airport. We then enjoyed a fun weekend celebrating with Mimi and Papa before they headed home on Monday. :)
