End of season party

I can't believe it's really here, but softball season is wrapping up!  This weekend, we had the team party at Cook Park.  It was a super laid back and super fun way to celebrate. 

After lots of food and treats and running around, the coaches said a few words about each girl.  Funny, but the word they used to describe Camryn was "serious."  I guess looking back, she was pretty serious when she got up to bat, though I know her too well to let that define her.  :)

At the end, each lucky girl got to take home a "golden glove" trophy of her very own.  The girls autographed each others' softballs to place in the glove and remember each other by.  What a fun season, and a great group of girls!!!

 

 

Final SB practice: Girls vs. Coaches

For their final practice of the season, the girls played a game vs. their coaches (plus a few parents).  Pretty funny stuff!  Brian played on the coaches team, each girl got to coach the players team for an inning, and Aubrey and her friends played cheerleader/dance team/crazed fans.  :)  Fun stuff!

 

GS sleepover: Bridging from Brownies to Juniors

They've done it!  It was time for our Brownies to "bridge" over to Juniors!  To celebrate, Julie and I hosted a sleepover at my house. 

Pillow fights, silly games, pictures, building a "bridge" out of pillows, manicures, pedicures, a candy "bar," movie, and finally...sleep!

Whew!  What a fun and exhausting night!  Congrats, girls!

Brown's Ferry Park field trip

One of the (many) amazing things about Aubrey's kindergarten class this year is all of the field trips they have gone on.  Last week, I got to play hooky from my fifth graders, and join the kinders on their last trip...a scientific pond study at Brown's Ferry Park.  :)

They got to check the temperature of the air and the soil, build terrariums, go on a plant hunt, catch insects, go birdwatching, and observe tadpoles.  Each station was manned by a group of fifth graders who did an awesome job teaching the kinders. What a fun way it was to spend a beautiful, sunny day! 

Happy 60th Birthday, Mom!

Saturday night, we celebrated a major milestone.....   Mom turned  60!  All of the "grown ups" in the family went out for an amazing dinner at Brazil Grill, and enjoyed amazing food, lots of laughs, stories, and poking fun at the birthday girl.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a terrific mom, grandma, mother-in-law, and friend.  We love you!
