Final SB practice: Girls vs. Coaches

For their final practice of the season, the girls played a game vs. their coaches (plus a few parents).  Pretty funny stuff!  Brian played on the coaches team, each girl got to coach the players team for an inning, and Aubrey and her friends played cheerleader/dance team/crazed fans.  :)  Fun stuff!

 

GS sleepover: Bridging from Brownies to Juniors

They've done it!  It was time for our Brownies to "bridge" over to Juniors!  To celebrate, Julie and I hosted a sleepover at my house. 

Pillow fights, silly games, pictures, building a "bridge" out of pillows, manicures, pedicures, a candy "bar," movie, and finally...sleep!

Whew!  What a fun and exhausting night!  Congrats, girls!

Brown's Ferry Park field trip

One of the (many) amazing things about Aubrey's kindergarten class this year is all of the field trips they have gone on.  Last week, I got to play hooky from my fifth graders, and join the kinders on their last trip...a scientific pond study at Brown's Ferry Park.  :)

They got to check the temperature of the air and the soil, build terrariums, go on a plant hunt, catch insects, go birdwatching, and observe tadpoles.  Each station was manned by a group of fifth graders who did an awesome job teaching the kinders. What a fun way it was to spend a beautiful, sunny day! 

Happy 60th Birthday, Mom!

Saturday night, we celebrated a major milestone.....   Mom turned  60!  All of the "grown ups" in the family went out for an amazing dinner at Brazil Grill, and enjoyed amazing food, lots of laughs, stories, and poking fun at the birthday girl.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a terrific mom, grandma, mother-in-law, and friend.  We love you!

Tulips 2014

We have been so busy these past weeks, that we *almost* missed one of our favorite Spring traditions!  Realizing that it was the final weekend of the Woodburn Tulip Festival, we pulled on our rain boots, packed our umbrellas, and braved the ominous skies to get some pics in and among the tulips. 

Though somewhat windy, and gray in the background, it was actually kind of nice not to fight thousands of people for space, and wait in lines that were miles long.  We arrived mid-day, ate our traditional corn dog lunch, and tiptoed among the tulips (albeit in galoshes.)

This spring makes TEN YEARS that we've been bringing our girls down to the festival to snap colorful photos!   (Camryn first visited when she was less than two months old with my mom and I, and I still remember specific moments of that day perfectly.)  Ten years???  It doesn't even seem possible.

Aubrey's music program

Last night was Aubrey's kindergarten music performance.  The kids sang, chanted, drummed, and danced, all around the theme of animals and insects.  It was seriously sweet enough to give you a cavity!!!
