Sunriver Day 1: Hole in the Ground

On our third annual Sunriver trip with the Frye family, we put Dan in charge of organizing our day trips, and he decided to take us to explore some new sights.    So, for our 15th anniversary, we visited 3 places I can honestly say I would never choose on my own, but totally enjoyed:  Hole in the Ground, Fort Rock, and Cowboy Dinner Tree.

Hole in the Ground is literally a GIANT.  HOLE. IN. THE. GROUND.  Actually, more of a crater, it's about a mile across, and a steep climb down into, and back out.  Luckily, the kids thought this was great fun and trooped down in and back up out with minimal griping.   There was literally no one else around for miles, and gave us some good time and a new place to explore.

Bend

Soooo.....our trip to Bend turned out to be less than magical this time around.  Though we tried to enjoy the beautiful weather, and the delicious food, our plans were derailed when Mimi's back locked up, sending her to bed, the dog started unexpectedly vomiting, and Camryn broke out in full-body hives.  For DAYS.

Instead of enjoying Goody's, the park, the hot tub, and the river with Mimi and Papa, we spent most of our time visiting Urgent Care (2 times!), then the ER, and dosing out benadryl and prednisone.  Poor Camryn was miserable, inflamed, and itchy, and just couldn't find relief.  Unfortunately, we never identified the cause, but mercifully they disappeared after three days.

Needless to say, we are calling for a do-over when we return in a few weeks!

Birthday wine tasting

For my birthday, all I wanted to do was go wine tasting with friends...!  So, we made arrangements for the girls, and hit wine country with the Moores and the Fryes.   The weather finally cooled off, and it turned out to be the perfect day for fun, friends, and good wine.

And we enjoyed "lunch" at Salt & Straw.  What a SWEET birthday!
