In lieu of a holiday party this year (which quickly disintegrates into sugar-frenzied madness), Aubrey's preschool teachers decided to put on a performance with the kids instead. Let's just take a moment to let that all soak in.
Twelve 2-5 year olds. Singing. Dancing. Together. In sync. Do you have any idea the planning and preparation that goes into something like that??? Well, I do, and it's with that understanding that I believe all of them deserve gold medals. And a Hawaiian vacation. And lots and lots of margaritas/wine/chocolate/whatever.
In any case, we just couldn't miss this gem of a performance. The kids were absolutely hysterical. They performed three dances with their dance teacher, Miss Lisa, who comes to the preschool each Wednesday, where each and every student got to perform a solo. :O)
Then, they (even Camryn, who comes to the daycare after school) sang five songs, all while being led by a gregarious 5-year-old "choir director." They boogied and belted like nobody's business, and only lost one team member due to stage fright.
Not to be outdone though, Teacher Laurie arranged for a special visitor, who arrived right in the middle of the final number, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." And can you believe it? It was "the big guy himself!?" The kids were so shocked, that they all stayed rooted in place, mouths gaping. No one said anything. Priceless.
Santa ended up bringing special gifts for everyone, courtesy of Laurie and her staff, and chatted with each and every kid. Afterward, Camryn clued me in, saying, "Mom, that's not the real Santa you know (with an eye roll for effect). I saw a brown beard under his white one!" We agreed to keep the secret, assuming the big guy was a bit too busy that day. :)
As if it all wasn't enough, there were treats galore to end the afternoon, and lots of excited kids. What a fun time. Thank you, Laurie, Kris, Aleca, Jordan, Lisa, and Liana for making it all happen.
The girls were supposed to come dressed in their favorite "hip hop attire," which was completely open to individual interpretation. To Camryn, this meant she HAD to have a "side pony." It was a must. I tried to explain to her that the '80s should be left to rest, but she's still intrigued... :P
After the choreographed routine, the girls had the chance to show off their individual skills in the break dance cipher. During class, these girls clamor to be the center of attention, but the audience caused everyone to be a bit shy at first. Finally, each girl got herself out there, and showed off her best break dance moves. It was hysterical!

These four are unstoppable together, and have SO much fun laughing and dancing together.
